The 5th International Contest “Stop the Censorship!” Citizens for Free Countries» is launched

On May 10, the 5th International Contest “Stop the Censorship! Citizens for Free Countries” has started.

The contest is an interdisciplinary project that combines media, activism and various types of creative practices. The goal of the project is to encourage active citizens, journalists, people of creative fields to join a socially important discussion in order to increase awareness and prepare the ground for the search, discussion, and adoption of progressive political decisions.

The competition is devoted to the topics of freedom of speech protection, access to information, and defeating censorship as well as a special topic, which is determined by the organizers in accordance with the recent socio-political processes in Ukraine and in the world.

This year’s special theme of the contest is “Women. Equality. Politics”. By the opinion of the organizers, the theme will help to overcome stereotypes, through which the participation of women in political life has traditionally been silenced.

Participants create and submit creative content to the site in the proposed formats: images, text, poem, slogan, and multimedia. Works can be submitted in three languages: Ukrainian, English, and Russian from May 10 till July 15, 2018, on the platform – www.stop-censorship.net.

The winners of the competition will be determined by three different juries: a jury of experts, a special jury and via online voting. The names of the winners will be announced in September 2018 in Kiev.

Exhibitions of the best works, public discussions, expert discussions, the workshops on art activism will be organized during and after the contest. The organizers of the contest call all interested activists and organizations in the regions to cooperate for organizing exhibitions of the best works and public discussions.
