19:00 – 20:00 – public discussion

20:00 – 20:30 – free communication

The event will be followed by a public discussion: “Women. Equal Access to Politics in Elections to the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 “. In developed democracies, the participation of women in political life is steadily increasing. But in Ukraine there is a significant imbalance of representation of women in the authorities. For example, among the active members of parliament, women deputies make up only 12.3% (according to the Open Information Portal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine). One year later, at the next parliamentary elections, Ukrainians have a chance to achieve equal representation of men and women in the Verkhovna Rada.

Questions to discuss:

How can discrimination of women in Ukrainian politics be overcome?
Who exactly should be the driving force of change: political parties, public organizations, the media?
What will society gain as a result of increasing the representation of women in politics?
